Yurt Demonstration for the 2019 Race Weekend
Snow doesn’t stop Curtis from camping; he embraces it! The Kearney Dog Sled Races are thrilled to have Outdoor Education Educator Curtis Moran & his daughter Kaitlyn join us at our Winter Family Fun area for some unique winter activities.
Curtis will be assembling a YURT he built, starting at 11am on both Saturday and Sunday (it will be dismantled at 3pm each day), at the Winter Family Fun area on Main St. While it is set up, you can step inside and see how it was constructed, enjoy a drink heated on the rocket stove or try your hand at making bannock!
Also, there will be snowshoes to borrow and you can practice before entering a snow shoe race! Weather permitting; Curtis will help us build a Quinzhee snow shelter. Hope for snow!
Join us in the Winter Family Fun area; across from the Post Office on Main St, both Saturday and Sunday from 10-3.
