Dog Sled Rides for KDSR’s 25th Year

This year, the Kearney Dog Sled Races will have mini-tour rides provided by Chocpaw Expeditions. Chocpaw has been a part of our local community providing tours into Canada’s Algonquin Provincial Park and other locations in Northern Ontario for over 40 years

Just wanted to add my thanks to the Town of Kearney for hosting and putting on such a great event. We’ll definitely be back next year I also wanted to say an extra thanks to the trail help- the men and ladies who stand out there for the entire weekend in whatever weather Mother Nature throws at us – who remain polite, encouraging and professional despite all of this. They are great at directing the teams and keeping back traffic, and I hope they know how much they’re appreciated.

The race was a highlight of our trip from Alaska. The community was very involved. Kearney is a town of 800 and I think I saw 790 volunteers, it was very impressive. We would like to return again for the race.

Another thanks being added here to!!! This is by far my favourite race to attend!!! If you had a comments card mine would have only one phrase “YOU GUYS ARE INCREDIBLE”!!!! Volunteers on the trail are quick to respond the second you need it (had a minor tangle that got resolved in seconds thanks to their fast action) and super friendly! In the dog yard the runners are great in making sure you make it to the chute in time. Food was plentiful and delicious! Smiles were abundant! Trails was superb. Honestly I cannot think of a single concern or complaint.

A big thank you to all the folks who worked so hard to put on this race. It is definitely up there as one of the most musher friendly races. The trail volunteers were awesome – saw some the same faces at both races both days – thanks for the dedication in making sure the teams got safely around the trail. The amount of trail work is phenomenal-kudos to all those people!!! The race committee – what awesome organization. Not quite sure how you got the weather to co-operate so well in such a fickle weather year!! See ya next year.
