1 and 2 Dog Skijoring Race Route
Skijoring is a winter sport that originated in Scandinavia. One or two dogs will pull a person on cross-country skies by means of a climbing harness. Our Skijoring race is a sprint with high speeds involved, making it very exciting for spectators and racers. Skijorers must have very strong cross-country skiing skills to manage to keep on their feet. Some of our past racers have even competed in cross country skiing world championships!
Route Details
The race itself follows the same course as our 4 Dog Sprint, both starting and finishing on Park Road down to Patton Road for excellent spectator viewing.
After that, the course runs through the forest, and once around the eastern forest and few loops in the former "pit". This is a very scenic and challenging route. The race begins at Park Street just south of the dog yard at the Legion. There are large sections of fields with open views of the Almaguin Highlands. There are no main snowmobile trails or road crossings on this trail. Ample trail help will be stationed throughout the trail for assistance if required.
