OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES

Races!

Our races are held beginning at 10:00 am starting at the corner of Main Street and Rain Lake Road.  In between race classes, please enjoy the dog yard where you may ask the mushers about their dogs, dog care, the classes they are running, and the history of their individual kennels. Please ask before petting any dog. Please also do not enter or touch any dog truck or trailer without expressed permission by the mushers for your and the dogs’ safety. We want every spectator, musher, and furry friend to have the most positive experience possible for race weekend!

Children’s Winter Games

Stop by our Children’s Activities Area across the street from the Kearney Post Office. We are planning some fun, outdoor winter activities! Special thanks to Outdoor Education teacher Curtis Morin who will be bringing a yurt he’s made himself. Watch him set up the yurt and then join him inside. You can warm up with some hot chocolate and learn how to make bannock! We’ll have snowshoes for you to try & then join in a fun race! You can warm up by the bonfire before heading back to the races.

Special thanks to ClayMar Electric for the donation of Hot Chocolate & the loaning of snowshoes!

Supervised Children’s Activities available Saturday 11am – 2pm & Sunday 11pm – 2pm

Dog Sled Rides

We are unable to offer dog sledding rides this year. Please continue to check back for updates in future years, but for now enjoy the races and many other exciting activities!

Chainsaw Carving

Jake Rhodes from JR Carving will be performing a chainsaw carving exhibition, across from the community centre in the parking lot of the Kearney Trailside Cookhouse. https://www.facebook.com/JRCarving/

We offer a wide range of activities for our families to enjoy each year, all of which are managed by our wonderful volunteers who are passionate about making our event as fun and exciting as possible. Please make sure to thank them while you’re having a good time!
