1st Annual Greg Alexanian Memorial Stage Race
Though our hearts are heavy and our committee feels much less whole, we are turning one of our favourite events of the race weekend into a memorial for a dear friend and committee member that we lost too soon.
The Kearney Dog Sled Races Committee would like to announce the 1st Annual Greg Alexanian Memorial Stage Race. Our formerly named 10-Dog Stage Race will consist of approximately 35 miles of good forested trails, starting and finishing in Downtown Kearney, Ontario and looping east towards beautiful Algonquin Park. The race will be run on both Saturday and Sunday of Race weekend, and teams will consist of a pool of 12 dogs with a maximum of 10 dogs running each day.
Greg Alexanian was a member of the Kearney Dog Sled Races Committee, who will be sorely missed by this Committee, and by the Community as a whole. Greg worked diligently on the committee for the time we had with him. His attitude was always positive and uplifting. His sense of humour and laugh were infectious and the only thing bigger than his smile was his heart.
