Awards and Prizes for 2020

Our 2020 Purse and Trophies Breakdown!

We are just one week away from the start of the race!

The Kearney Dog Sled Races is blessed with continued support of our race sponsors. Places like Edgewater Park Lodge, Fetterley’s Gas, Al Langman Construction, and Marshall Construction and Contracting have allowed us to present Ontario’s largest dog sled race for the last 26 years. These local businesses have partnered with us to continue supporting a great Canadian tradition, and a sport that brings people and dogs together as one. They have also helped us with a phenomenal race purse for 2020!

Though prospects of a larger 10-dog class are not totally out of sight, we were able to use some of our regularly attributed funds for that class to create a $9,000 total purse that we are extremely excited about. With the added 2-Dog sled class for novice racers and smaller family-teams of dogs, we are hoping that this year will bring many new faces to our race.

We would like to take this opportunity to remind mushers that to be seeded within your class, you MUST be registered and paid in full by 8:00 pm Friday Night (February 7th). Late registrations will not be seeded. Late registration is open until 8:00 am on the morning of the Race Day 1 (February 8th).

With the level of support and team work that the race committee has been able to establish this year, each individual race purse has been able to see a significant increase. We would like to give racers the opportunity to see what our top teams will be winning this year.

To some, this may seem like a significant amount. To us, it is a small token for our competitors who will spend these amounts on dog food alone five-fold within a year of maintaining their dogs health and wellness.

2020 RACE PURSE BREAKDOWN

We wish all of our competitors and their dogs the best of luck, and most importantly a safe and fun run out on the trails!
