Dog Sled Races are BACK!

We as a race committee are SO excited to welcome dogs, mushers, and spectators back to the little town of Kearney for some exciting racing in the snow. We are truly blessed with endless love and support from this town and local businesses from near and far. Our races are fast approaching – just a few days away. The events activities start at 8am both Saturday and Sunday, February 11th and 12th, 2023.

This year, our event had to make some big changes on top of kickstarting the event after a 3 year hiatus. Everything has moved to the Kearney Legion Local #276. Our dog yard is next to the legion with additional race activities at the township’s ball diamond across the road.

We are happy to report that as of today we have hit 80 teams registered to compete. This is officially the largest dog sledding event we have ever hosted.

We invite everyone to join us for the races and experience mushing at its most exciting times. We are additionally welcoming Jacob Betker to provide dog sled rides to adults ($25) and children ($20) just beyond our starting line. Dog sled rides have been a staple of the event that we were not able to provide for a few years. Now they’re back in action. These are offered between 11 am and 3pm Saturday and Sunday

In addition to DJ’s Bar and Grill providing a yummy breakfast at 7am both days and serving food into the late hours, we have South River Brewery and Sugarnutz Minidonuts joining us to create a beer garden inside of the ball diamond. We have additional vendors selling wares outdoors.

Join us at the Pet-a-Pup Pitstop to pet some dogs and learn about mushing throughout the weekend. There is children’s colouring contest sheets in the Legion as well.

Live music will be at the Legion all weekend provided by Zack Fitzsimmons and James Gray! They are popular local musicians with loads of talent to share.
