Gearing up for 2025! New Race Policies and Information
We are getting closer and closer to race time. Snow is in the air and fall training is quickly turning towards sledding season. As we gear up for racing time, we want to highlight a few new important notes for our competitors.
Registration for the 2025 Kearney Dog Sled Races is NOW OPEN! RACE IS FEBRUARY 8 & 9th 2025
8 DOG SLED CLASS
The trail team and some local mushers are collaborating to enhance the 8-dog class race experience this year. Additional trail options are being explored which will not be as weather dependent as our 2024 route. Last year we were at the mercy of Mother Nature and whether or not she chose to freeze our lakes. As everyone knows, she chose to NOT. We are hopeful that we will be able to provide a fun, safe 15 mile trail for this years event.
Worst case, we are certain to provide a 12 mile trail with teams looping through the whole course twice. Teams will NOT go through the finish line, rather they will utilize an offshoot trail behind the large steel building next to our finish line to re-enter the trail system after the Kearney Baseball Diamond. This would help the dogs not be confused or interfere with any preparations at the starting line for the next event.
We will keep all our participants in the know as more 8-Dog updates become available.
NEW THIS YEAR!
There will be a CAP of 100 registrations total. (excluding I-kid-arod participants). If the cap is reached prior to registrations closing, we will create a waitlist. If there are any cancellations we will reach out to those on the wait list to try and fill the spots.
Registration for all races will close on February 3, 2025 at 8pm. Any open spots will be given to waitlisted participants. Those on the waiting list will be contacted in order of entries received.
KEARNEY DOG SLED RACES CANCELLATION POLICY
In order to receive a full refund, cancellations need to be made on or before January 13, 2025.
If for any reason you need to cancel after January 13 2025 and the spots are not filled, there will be no refund available. If the spots are filled by a new entry there will be a 90% refund issued (10% administration fee).
If the Kearney Dog Sled Race needs to cancel at any time/for any reason we will offer a FULL refund for entry fees. Should this occur, anyone choosing not to receive a refund and donate their entry to the race would be issued a tax receipt and a sincere thank you for contributing to the ongoing success of the event.
